QAPRTase Antibody (ZN-17) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the QAPRTase protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-QAPRTase antibody (ZN-17) is available as the non-conjugated format. Quinolinate phosphoribosyltransferase (QPRTase) plays a crucial role in the catabolism of quinolinate, an important intermediate in the tryptophan-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) pathway, which ultimately leads to the production of nicotinic acid, carbon dioxide, and pyrophosphate. The catabolism of quinolinate is particularly significant due to its neurotoxic properties; elevated levels of quinolinate have been associated with neurodegenerative symptoms in conditions such as meningitis and AIDS. QAPRTase features a unique seven-stranded alpha/beta-barrel domain, which is structurally similar to the eight-stranded alpha/beta-barrel enzymes but possesses a novel fold that distinguishes QAPRTase from other members of the phosphoribosyltransferase family. This distinctive structure consists of a combination of two domains: one resembling an alpha/beta barrel-like domain and the other an alpha/beta N-terminal domain, highlighting QPRTase′s evolutionary adaptation and functional significance in cellular metabolism.

Can sc-100809: QAPRTase (ZN-17) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100809: QAPRTase (ZN-17) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
