PTH Antibody (D1.5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects parathyroid hormone (PTH) in human, bovine, and canine samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. PTH is a crucial 84 amino acid peptide that plays a vital role in regulating calcium metabolism by increasing blood calcium levels through multiple mechanisms, such as stimulating bone formation, which enhances bone mass and strength in both rats and humans. The first 34 amino acids at the amino terminus of the PTH molecule are particularly important for its biological activity, highlighting the significance of this region in mediating its effects. The gene encoding PTH is located on human chromosome 11p15.3-p15.1, and is essential for maintaining calcium homeostasis in the body. Additionally, parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTH-rP), which shares structural similarities with PTH, is produced by various cell types and is involved in regulating endochondral bone development and epithelial-mesenchymal interactions, particularly during the formation of mammary glands and teeth.
