pS2 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects pS2 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). pS2, also known as Md2, BCEI, TFF1, and pNR-2, is a trefoil protein that plays a crucial role in mucosal healing and is characterized by a unique structure, which includes three intrachain disulfide bonds forming the trefoil motif, or P-domain. This structural feature contributes to pS2′s stability and resistance to proteolytic degradation, allowing pS2 to function effectively in the harsh environment of the gastrointestinal tract. pS2 is predominantly expressed in normal gastric mucosa and has been implicated in various carcinomas, including those of the breast, pancreas, and stomach. Notably, pS2 is absent in normal breast tissue but can be induced by estrogen in MCF7 cells, highlighting pS2′s potential role in cancer biology. Additionally, pS2 forms dimers, a process believed to enhance protective and healing properties, making pS2 an important target for research in gastrointestinal health and cancer. The gene encoding pS2 is located on human chromosome 21q22.3, further emphasizing pS2′s relevance in human health and disease.
