Profilin-2 Antibody (4K-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Profilin-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Profilin-2 antibody (4K-6) is available as a non-conjugated format. Profilin-2, also known as PFN2 or PFL, is a 140 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating actin cytoskeleton, essential for cell shape, motility, and division. Profilin-2 is predominantly expressed in kidney, brain, and skeletal muscle, highlighting importance in tissues requiring dynamic cytoskeletal remodeling. Profilin-2 functions as an actin monomer-binding protein, facilitating ADP to ATP exchange on actin, promoting actin polymerization in response to extracellular signals. High concentrations of Profilin-2 inhibit actin polymerization, while lower levels promote polymerization, indicating a sophisticated regulatory mechanism for cellular adaptation. Profilin-2 exists in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, contributing to functional diversity and regulatory roles in different cellular contexts.
