PREP-2 Antibody (56.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PREP-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). PREP-2 (56.1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PREP-2, also known as Pbx-regulating protein-2 or PBX/knotted 1 homeobox 2, is a crucial member of the TALE (three amino acid loop extension)/MEIS family, playing a significant role in gene regulation. PREP-2 is primarily located in the nucleus, where PREP-2 forms stable complexes with Pbx proteins, facilitating the regulation of target genes essential for developmental processes. Nuclear localization of PREP-2 enables precise control of transcriptional activity, particularly in forming ternary complexes with Hox proteins, such as HoxB1. While PREP-1 enhances transcriptional activation within these complexes, PREP-2 exhibits a unique function by slightly reducing transcriptional activity, highlighting a distinct regulatory role. Multiple isoforms of PREP-2 exist, with some localizing to the cytoplasm, where PREP-2 interacts with cytoskeletal components like F-actin, G-actin, and tubulin/microtubules, further emphasizing PREP-2′s versatility and importance in cellular dynamics.
