PPP1R3 Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PPP1R3 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PPP1R3 (C-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PPP1R3, also known as GM, PP1G, or PPP1R3A (protein phosphatase 1, regulatory (inhibitor) subunit 3A), is a 1,122 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that features a carbohydrate binding type-21 (CBM21) domain and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms. PPP1R3 is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle and heart tissues, where PPP1R3 plays a crucial role as a glycogen-targeting subunit for protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), which is vital for cell division and the regulation of glycogen metabolism, muscle contractility, and protein synthesis. PPP1R3 is involved in the regulation of glycogen synthesis, although PPP1R3 is not essential for the insulin-mediated activation of glycogen synthase. Defects in PPP1R3 have been linked to an increased susceptibility to noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), also known as type II diabetes, characterized by an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern, adult onset, and insulin resistance. PPP1R3 has been identified in various human cancer cell lines and primary lung carcinomas, suggesting a potential role as a tumor suppressor in carcinogenesis. The gene encoding PPP1R3 is located on human chromosome 7q31.1, highlighting its significance in both metabolic regulation and cancer biology.
