POT1 Antibody (M1-P1H5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the POT1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-POT1 antibody (M1-P1H5) is available as the non-conjugated format. POT1, known as protection of telomeres 1 homolog (S. pombe), plays a crucial role in maintaining chromosome end protection and regulating telomere length, which is vital for genomic stability and cellular aging. Located at the telomeres, POT1 binds specifically to single-stranded telomeric DNA, preventing the activation of DNA damage responses that could lead to chromosomal fusions and instability. This localization ensures that the protective cap at the ends of chromosomes remains intact, thereby safeguarding the integrity of genetic information during cell division. POT1 interacts with a variety of other telomeric proteins, including telomerase and TRF1, TRF2, and RAP1, forming a complex network that is critical for telomere maintenance. Dysregulation of POT1 expression has been implicated in various cancers, including stomach carcinogenesis and gastric cancer progression, highlighting its importance in both cellular function and disease.
