Porimin Antibody (D-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Porimin in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Porimin is a 189 amino acid, keratinocyte-associated, pro-oncosis cell surface receptor that plays a critical role in mediating oncotic cell death by inducing membrane injury. As a member of the cell membrane-associated Mucin family, Porimin is characterized by numerous O-linked and seven N-linked glycosylation sites on the extracellular domain, which are essential for function and stability. Porimin is widely expressed across various tissues, with the notable exception of the ovary, and is particularly overexpressed in colorectal adenocarcinoma and lung carcinoma, highlighting potential as a biomarker for these malignancies. Porimin functions as a single-pass membrane protein that facilitates pore formation on the plasma membrane, leading to oncotic cell death, which is often preceded by cell aggregation and membrane bleb formation. Additionally, Porimin may inhibit cell adhesion, further contributing to cell death pathways. Anti-Porimin antibody (D-9) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers investigating mechanisms of cell death and implications in cancer biology.
