PMCA2/3 Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PMCA2/3 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-PMCA2/3 antibody (C-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PMCA2/3 plays a crucial role in calcium homeostasis by mediating the export of bivalent calcium ions from eukaryotic cells, which is essential for numerous cellular processes, including muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, and cell signaling. As a member of the P class of ion-motive ATPases, PMCA2/3 is derived from alternatively spliced transcripts of the PMCA gene family, which includes PMCA1, 2, 3, and 4. Expression of these isoforms is tightly regulated according to developmental stages, tissue types, and specific physiological demands, ensuring that calcium levels are maintained within optimal ranges for cellular function. The human PMCA2 gene is located on chromosome 3, and PMCA2/3 monoclonal antibody (C-3) can detect three distinct proteins in brain and heart tissues. Studies have shown that homozygous null mutations in the mouse PMCA2 gene lead to the deafwaddler phenotype, characterized by a distinctive wobbly gait, head bobbing, and hearing loss, highlighting PMCA2/3′s importance in both auditory and motor functions.
