PLC β2 Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects PLC beta 2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PLC β2 (B-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PLC beta 2 protein plays a vital role in cellular signaling, particularly in receptor-mediated signal transduction, where PLC beta 2 generates critical second messengers such as inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate and diacylglycerol from phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. This process is essential for various physiological responses, including platelet activation and insulin secretion regulation in pancreatic cells. PLC beta 2 is predominantly expressed in peripheral regions of islet and acinar cells in rat pancreas, highlighting PLC beta 2′s importance in endocrine and exocrine functions. PLC beta 2 is unique among phospholipase C isozymes as PLC beta 2 is regulated by G protein subunits, which are activated by heterotrimeric GTP-binding proteins linked to diverse cell surface receptors. Two alternatively spliced forms of PLC beta 2, differing in carboxyl terminal sequences, further underscore the complexity of regulatory mechanisms and interactions with Gαq proteins, which are crucial for functional diversity in hematopoietic cells.
