PIWIL2 Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PIWIL2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PIWIL2 antibody (G-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PIWIL2, also known as HILI or cancer/testis antigen 80 (CT80), is a 973 amino acid protein that belongs to the argonaute family and features one PAZ domain and one PIWI domain. This cytoplasmic protein is predominantly expressed in adult testis and various tumors, playing a crucial role in regulating spermatogenesis and the production of primordial germ cells. PIWIL2 is involved in the meiotic differentiation of spermatocytes and the self-renewal of spermatogonial stem cells, which is vital for maintaining male fertility. PIWIL2 interacts with several key proteins that influence cellular processes, including PDGFR-β, which is associated with stem cell proliferation, and Glut1, which is involved in energy metabolism. PIWIL2 expression can affect cell-cell interactions through proteins such as Integrin α6, GJA7, THY-1, and CD9, as well as germ cell differentiation factors like STRA8. PIWIL2 may act as a regulatory factor in the Stat3/Bcl-xS/L/CCND1 signaling pathway, and PIWIL2 repression has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth, highlighting a potential role as an oncogene by promoting proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis in cancerous cells.
