SEE ALSO...

PICOT Antibody (D-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PICOT protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PICOT (D-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PICOT protein, also known as GLRX3, GRX3, GRX4, GLRX4, HUSSY-22, TXNL2, or TXNL3, is a 335 amino acid protein characterized by one thioredoxin domain and two glutaredoxin domains. PICOT protein is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and cell cortex, where PICOT plays a crucial role in regulating the thioredoxin system, which is essential for maintaining cellular redox homeostasis. Notably, PICOT protein is involved in inhibiting cardiac hypertrophy, a condition characterized by the thickening of the heart muscle often due to high blood pressure, by negatively regulating nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) signaling. Although PICOT protein contains a thioredoxin domain, PICOT lacks the two redox-reactive cysteines necessary for catalytic activity, indicating that PICOT does not function as a traditional thioredoxin. PICOT expression is prominent in the testis, heart, and spleen, with lower levels found in the thymus, lung, colon, placenta, and small intestine, highlighting PICOT′s potential significance in various physiological processes and disease states.
