PICK1 Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PICK1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PICK1, or protein interacting with C kinase 1, is a PDZ-domain containing protein predominantly located in the perinuclear region of cells, where PICK1 plays a crucial role in cellular signaling and synaptic transmission. The localization of PICK1 allows for precise regulation of interactions with other proteins, such as the α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-isoxazole-4-propionic acid (AMPA) receptor, which is essential for excitatory synaptic transmission. By anchoring AMPA receptors at specific synapses, PICK1 modulates synaptic strength and plasticity, processes vital for learning and memory. Additionally, PICK1 is phosphorylated in response to protein kinase C alpha (PKCα) activation, which is critical for regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation. The unique PDZ-binding domain of PKCα facilitates interaction with PICK1, and mutations in the PICK1 PDZ domain can disrupt this binding, highlighting the importance of this interaction in cellular signaling pathways. Anti-PICK1 antibody (C-4) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying PICK1′s intricate roles in synaptic modulation and neurobiology.
