Phospholemman Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects phospholemman of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-phospholemman antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Phospholemman, a member of the FXYD family of small membrane proteins, plays a crucial role in forming ion channels within the lipid bilayer, exhibiting unique properties such as selectivity for the zwitterion taurine and the ability to switch between anion and cation-selective conformations. This selectivity is significant as taurine acts as an osmolyte, helping to regulate cellular volume, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis, particularly in muscle cells. Additionally, phospholemman undergoes phosphorylation in response to adrenergic or insulin stimulation in cardiac and skeletal muscle, suggesting involvement in muscle contractility regulation. The interaction of FXYD proteins, including phospholemman, with Na, K-ATPase in a tissue and isotype-specific manner further highlights potential role in modulating muscle contraction, making phospholemman an important target for research in muscle physiology and related disorders.
