SEE ALSO...

PGK1 Antibody (14) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PGK1 antibody (14) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PGK1 plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism as a key glycolytic enzyme, catalyzing the conversion of 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate to 3-phosphoglycerate while generating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) from adenosine diphosphate (ADP). This enzymatic activity is vital for energy production in cells, particularly under anaerobic conditions, and is essential for sustaining cellular functions and proliferation. The human PGK gene, located on the X chromosome at position Xq21.1, is associated with various genetic disorders, including prostate cancer and androgen insensitivity, highlighting PGK1′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states. Additionally, PGK1 is secreted by tumor cells, where anti-PGK1 antibody (14) acts as a disulfide reductase, facilitating angiogenesis by reducing disulfide bonds in proteins such as plasmin, which is critical for the release of angiostatin, a potent inhibitor of tumor blood vessel formation. This multifaceted role of PGK1 underscores PGK1′s significance not only in metabolic pathways but also in cancer biology, making anti-PGK1 antibody (14) a valuable tool for research in these areas.

I am using PGK1 (14): sc-130335 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
