SEE ALSO...

PFK-1 Antibody (G-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PFK-1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PFK-1 (G-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PFK-1, also known as phosphofructokinase-1, plays a crucial role in glycolysis by catalyzing the conversion of fructose 6-phosphate and ATP into fructose 1,6-bisphosphate, a key regulatory step in glucose metabolism. This enzymatic activity maintains energy homeostasis in cells, particularly during periods of high energy demand. PFK-1 functions as a tetrameric enzyme composed of different isoforms, including muscle (PFKM), liver (PFKL), and platelet (PFKP) types, each regulated by various metabolites. ATP and citrate inhibit PFK-1, signaling sufficient energy levels, while elevated AMP and fructose-2,6-bisphosphate activate PFK-1, with fructose-2,6-bisphosphate being produced by the bifunctional enzyme PFK-2. This intricate metabolite regulation of PFK-1 underscores its importance in metabolic pathways and highlights potential therapeutic interventions in metabolic disorders.
