Peroxin 16 Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Peroxin 16 (PEX16) of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Peroxin 16 antibody (H-4) is available as the non-conjugated form. Peroxisomes, which are single-membrane-bound organelles found in nearly all eukaryotic cells, play a vital role in various metabolic processes, including the beta-oxidation of very long-chain fatty acids and the detoxification of hydrogen peroxide. The Peroxin gene family, comprising over 20 members, is essential for the biogenesis of these organelles, with PEX16 being a multi-membrane protein consisting of 336 amino acids that is crucial for the formation and maintenance of peroxisomes. Notably, PEX16 interacts with other proteins involved in peroxisome assembly, such as PEX3 and PEX19, which are essential for the import of peroxisomal membrane proteins. Deficiencies in the gene encoding PEX16 can lead to severe peroxisome-related disorders, including Zellweger syndrome, neonatal adrenoleukodystrophy, infantile Refsum disease, classical rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata, and peroxisome biogenesis disorder complementation group 9. Peroxin 16 (H-4) antibody′s ability to effectively detect this critical protein makes it an invaluable tool for research into peroxisomal function and associated diseases.
