PELO Antibody (G-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PELO in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PELO, also known as pelota homolog or CGI-17, is a 385 amino acid protein located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, belonging to the eukaryotic release factor 1 family and the pelota subfamily. PELO plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability and regulating cell proliferation and stem cell self-renewal, which are vital processes for normal development and tissue homeostasis. Notably, PELO is involved in recognizing stalled ribosomes and possesses ribonuclease activity, allowing PELO to trigger endonucleolytic cleavage of mRNA. This mechanism is essential for the degradation of damaged mRNAs and the release of non-functional ribosomes, thereby ensuring efficient protein synthesis and cellular function. PELO is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 5q11.2 and is ubiquitously expressed, utilizing divalent metal cations as cofactors, which further underscores PELO′s importance in various cellular processes, including spermatogenesis and meiotic cell division.
