PELO Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PELO in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PELO, also known as pelota homolog or CGI-17, is a 385 amino acid protein located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, belonging to the eukaryotic release factor 1 family and the pelota subfamily. Evolutionary conservation of PELO highlights its critical role in cellular processes, particularly in regulating cell proliferation and maintaining genomic stability. PELO is essential for normal chromosome segregation during cell division, and PELO function is vital for spermatogenesis and meiotic cell division. PELO possesses ribonuclease activity, allowing PELO to recognize stalled ribosomes and trigger endonucleolytic cleavage of mRNA, which is crucial for degrading damaged mRNAs and releasing non-functional ribosomes.
