PDK4 Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects PDK4 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PDK4 antibody (A-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PDK4, a member of the pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase family, plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by regulating the activity of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) through phosphorylation of its E1α subunit. This regulation is vital as PDK4 determines the balance between carbohydrate and fatty acid oxidation, particularly during metabolic stress such as starvation or diabetes. PDK4 is predominantly expressed in heart and skeletal muscle, where PDK4 levels fluctuate in response to nutritional status; for instance, PDK4 levels increase during starvation, leading to reduced PDC activity and a shift towards fatty acid utilization for energy.
