PDE6β Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PDE6β protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PDE6β antibody (B-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PDE6β protein is a critical component of the cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) signaling pathway, particularly in photoreceptor cells of the retina, where PDE6β plays an essential role in the phototransduction cascade. This enzyme is composed of an α and a β subunit, which are responsible for catalytic and cGMP binding activities, respectively, along with two inhibitory γ subunits and a δ subunit. Proper functioning of PDE6β is vital for maintaining low levels of cGMP in photoreceptor cells, which is crucial for normal vision. Disruptions in the PDE6 pathway, often due to mutations in the PDE6A gene encoding the α subunit, can lead to severe visual impairments, including retinitis pigmentosa, affecting approximately 3-4% of cases in North America. PDE6β monoclonal antibody (B-8) allows researchers to explore the dynamics of PDE6β in various experimental settings, contributing to a deeper understanding of retinal health and disease.
