PDC-E2 Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PDC-E2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PDC-E2 plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism as a component of the pyruvate dehydrogenase multienzyme complex, which is essential for converting pyruvate into acetyl-CoA, a key substrate for the citric acid cycle. This metabolic pathway is vital for energy production and the synthesis of fatty acids, making PDC-E2 integral to maintaining cellular energy homeostasis. PDC-E2′s structure includes both an amino-terminal lipoyl-bearing domain and a carboxy-terminal catalytic domain, with the lipoyl domain being particularly important for enzymatic function. The presence of specific autoantibodies against PDC-E2 in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis highlights PDC-E2′s significance in autoimmune responses, as these autoantibodies can lead to the destruction of biliary epithelial cells, ultimately affecting liver function. Anti-PDC-E2 antibody (C-9) is therefore a valuable tool for researchers studying metabolic disorders and autoimmune diseases, providing insights into PDC-E2′s role and interactions within the cellular environment.
