PBEF Antibody (E-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects PBEF protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PBEF (E-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Pre-B cell-enhancing factor (PBEF), also known as nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (Nampt) or visfatin, plays a crucial role in the NAD biosynthesis pathway by catalyzing the conversion of nicotinamide and 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate into nicotinamide mononucleotide, a key intermediate in the synthesis of NAD. This process is vital for cellular metabolism and energy production, as NAD is essential for various enzymatic reactions, including those involved in DNA repair and cellular signaling. PBEF is predominantly expressed in the cytoplasm and is highly enriched in visceral fat, with expression levels in plasma increasing during obesity development. Additionally, PBEF is primarily found in bone marrow, muscle, and liver tissues, but can also be detected in the placenta, lung, kidney, and heart, highlighting its diverse physiological roles across different tissues.
