Pax-3/7 Antibody (E-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that specifically recognizes an epitope mapping between amino acids 439-464 at the C-terminus of human Pax-3. Pax-3 and Pax-7, also known as Paired box protein Pax-3 and Paired box protein Pax-7, are transcription factors containing both a paired domain and a homeodomain, crucial for early neurogenesis and muscle development. These proteins undergo post-translational modifications like phosphorylation, which regulate their DNA-binding activity and subcellular localization, thereby influencing gene expression during development. The phosphorylation of Pax-3 and Pax-7 modulates their interaction with other proteins and affects their ability to activate or repress target genes. Pax-3 expression is observed in mitotic cells of the ventricular zone of the developing spinal cord and specific regions of the brain, while Pax-7 is expressed in satellite cells of adult muscle tissue. Mutations in the PAX3 gene are associated with Waardenburg syndrome types I and III, underscoring the significance of proper post-translational regulation.
