PABP Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Poly(A)-binding protein (PABP) in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PABP plays a crucial role in gene expression by binding to the poly(A) tail of eukaryotic mRNA, which is essential for mRNA stability, translation initiation, and regulation of mRNA degradation. PABP′s interaction with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4G (eIF4G) facilitates assembly of translation initiation complex, promoting efficient translation of polyadenylated mRNAs. PABP′s modular structure, characterized by four N-terminal RNA-binding domains and a large C-terminus, allows for versatile interactions with various RNA sequences and proteins, influencing mRNA fate and cellular responses. During viral infections, such as poliovirus, PABP cleavage can lead to shutdown of host protein synthesis, highlighting PABP′s significance in both normal cellular function and viral pathogenesis. PABP gene is located on chromosome 8q22.2-q23 and encodes a protein consisting of 633 amino acids, underscoring PABP′s evolutionary conservation and essential role in cellular processes.
