Datasheets
  • PABP Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 κ PABP antibody, cited in 3 publications, provided at 200 µg/ml
  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 11-37 near the N-terminus of PABP of human origin
  • recommended for detection of PABP of mouse, rat and human origin, PABPC1L, PABPC3 and PABPC4 of human origin, PABPC2 and PABPC6 of mouse origin and the corresponding rat homologs by WB, IP, IF and ELISA; also reactive with additional species, including and equine, canine, bovine, porcine and avian
  • available conjugated to agarose for IP; HRP for WB, IHC(P) and ELISA; phycoerythrin, FITC, Alexa Fluor® 488 or Alexa Fluor® 647 for IF, IHC(P) and FCM
  • m-IgGκ BP-HRP is the preferred secondary detection reagent for PABP Antibody (A-4) for WB applications. This reagent is now offered in a bundle with PABP Antibody (A-4) (see ordering information below). For additional m-IgGκ BP conjugates see our complete list of Mouse IgG Binding Proteins.

PABP Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects PABP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PABP Antibody (A-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Poly(A)-binding protein (PABP) plays a crucial role in the regulation of mRNA metabolism, including translation initiation, stability, and degradation. Located predominantly in the cytoplasm, PABP interacts with the poly(A) tail of eukaryotic mRNA, which is vital for the recruitment of translation initiation factors and the formation of the translation initiation complex. This interaction not only enhances the efficiency of translation but also protects mRNA from degradation, thereby influencing gene expression levels. The modular structure of PABP, featuring four N-terminal RNA-binding domains and a large C-terminal domain, allows for multiple protein-protein interactions, including with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4G (eIF4G), which is essential for bridging the mRNA ends and facilitating the assembly of the translation machinery. The human PABP gene is located on chromosome 8q22.2-q23 and encodes a protein consisting of 633 amino acids, underscoring PABP′s importance in cellular processes and potential implications in viral infections, where PABP cleavage can lead to host translation shutoff.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-166381 P appropriate for?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Immunofluorescence - mouse brainThe antibody worked amazingly well. Free-floating section of 20um, from adult mouse brain, with PFA perfusion and 6h post-fixation. Slices were treated with citrate and X-100, and blocked for 30min in 5%FBS. Primary antibody was diluted 1:100 in 5%FBS in PBS.
