SEE ALSO...

p38 alpha/beta MAPK Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody engineered to detect p38 alpha (MAPK14) and p38 beta (MAPK11) proteins across multiple species, including mouse, rat, human, equine, and porcine. p38 alpha/beta MAPK mouse monoclonal antibody (A-12) recognizes an epitope within amino acids 213-360 at the C-terminus of human p38 alpha MAPK14. p38 MAPKs, also referred to as SAPK2A/SAPK2B or p38a/p38b, are vital members of the MAP kinase family that regulate essential cellular processes such as stress response, inflammation, cytokine production, and apoptosis. These proteins are integral to signal transduction pathways that control cell differentiation, proliferation, and survival, thereby maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to environmental stimuli. p38 alpha/beta MAPK monoclonal antibody (A-12) is suitable for techniques including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), making it a valuable tool for both research and diagnostic purposes. By targeting p38 MAPKs, p38 alpha/beta MAPK (A-12) antibody enables the investigation of critical cellular mechanisms and the underlying mechanisms of diseases like cancer, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory conditions. p38 MAPKs depend on magnesium as a cofactor to facilitate the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of target proteins, and their activity is modulated through phosphorylation on threonine and tyrosine residues, which is essential for their function. p38 alpha/beta MAPK monoclonal antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC, and several Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing researchers with flexible options to meet diverse experimental needs.

Hi, I am curious to know if this antibody will work for salmonid p38 proteins (specifically Oncorhynchus mykiss). Would you be able to tell me what the epitope is and what % similarity the trout sequence must be to be cross-reactive with this antibody?

Asked by: Yding
Thank you for your question. We are not aware of any publications using this antibody, p38α/β (A-12): sc-7972, in trout and we have not tested this in house. The antibody is raised against amino acids 213-360 of p38α/β of human origin, however the exact epitope has not been epitope mapped so it would be fairly impossible to find out if it would work in trout samples. However, we do offer samples of this antibody, so if you would like to try it out on your samples, please contact our Technical Service Department by calling us toll-free at (800) 457-3801 ext. 2, e-mail <scbt@scbt.com>, or use the live chat on our website.

Can I use this mouse monoclonal antibody for immunohistochemical staining of mouse tissue?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. Yes. We recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This antibody is currently available conjugated to phycoerythrin (sc-7972 PE), fluorescein (sc-7972 FITC), Alexa Fluor® 488 (sc-7972 AF488) or Alexa Fluor® 647 (sc-7972 AF647). Please contact Technical Service if you have further questions concerning this product.
