p-Tau Antibody (PHF-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects p-Tau, phosphorylated at Thr 231, in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. p-Tau, also known as MAPT (microtubule-associated protein tau), is a 758 amino acid protein predominantly localized in the cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, and cell membrane, featuring four Tau/MAP repeats. p-Tau promotes microtubule assembly and stability, which maintains neuronal polarity and overall cellular integrity. p-Tau links microtubules with components of the neural plasma membrane, contributing to cytoskeletal plasticity, a vital aspect of neuronal function and adaptability. p-Tau undergoes various post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation, which can significantly impact function and interactions. Abnormal phosphorylation of p-Tau is a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer′s disease, where p-Tau contributes to the formation of neurofibrillary tangles, leading to neuronal dysfunction and cell death. Anti-p-Tau antibody (PHF-6) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying these pathological processes and the role of p-Tau in neurodegeneration.
