    p-p21 Waf1/Cip1 Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects phosphorylated Ser 146 of p21 Waf1/Cip1 of human origin, in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). p21 Waf1/Cip1 plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation by acting as a potent inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks), which are essential for cell cycle progression. By binding tightly to Cdks, p21 Waf1/Cip1 prevents the phosphorylation of key substrates like retinoblastoma protein (Rb), thereby halting the transition from G1 phase to S phase of the cell cycle. This regulatory function is particularly important in cellular responses to stress and DNA damage, as p21 Waf1/Cip1 expression is induced by wildtype p53, a critical tumor suppressor. p21 Waf1/Cip1′s ability to modulate Cdk activity underscores its significance in maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing uncontrolled cell proliferation, making p21 Waf1/Cip1 a vital target for research in cancer biology and therapeutic interventions.
