SEE ALSO...

p-mTOR Antibody (Ser 2481 55.42) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the phosphorylated form of mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) at Ser 2481 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-mTOR antibody (55.42) is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated formats, providing flexibility for various experimental needs. mTOR plays a crucial role in cellular growth and metabolism by integrating signals from nutrients, growth factors, and cellular energy status, making mTOR a key regulator in processes such as protein synthesis and autophagy. mTOR is primarily located in the cytoplasm and nucleus, where mTOR forms complexes with other proteins to modulate signaling pathways that influence cell proliferation and survival. Dysregulation of mTOR signaling has been implicated in numerous diseases, including cancer, metabolic disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting the importance of studying mTOR phosphorylation status. Phosphorylation of mTOR at Ser 2481 is particularly significant as this modification occurs under conditions of translational repression, indicating a potential mechanism by which cells adapt to stress. Understanding the dynamics of mTOR phosphorylation can provide insights into therapeutic strategies targeting mTOR in various pathologies.

Can mTOR (55.42): sc-293089 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, mTOR (55.42): sc-293089 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
