Osteocalcin Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects osteocalcin of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-osteocalcin antibody (C-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Osteocalcin, also known as bone g-carboxyglutamic acid protein (BGLAP) or bone gamma-carboxyglutamic acid protein (BGP), is a crucial non-collagenous protein found in bone, primarily produced by osteoblasts. Osteocalcin binds to hydroxyapatite in a calcium-dependent manner, facilitating mineral deposition in the bone matrix and playing a significant role in bone mineralization and calcium homeostasis. Osteocalcin appears transiently during embryonic bone development at the time of mineral deposition. Osteocalcin represents one of the most abundant non-collagenous proteins in adult mineralized bone, and genetic variations at the osteocalcin locus on chromosome 1q have been linked to postmenopausal bone mineral density levels, potentially influencing osteoporosis risk in women.
