OSBP2 Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects OSBP2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). OSBP2 (A-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Oxysterol-binding protein (OSBP) family, which includes OSBP (OSBP1) and OSBP2 (ORP-4), plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and signal transduction, as well as vesicle transport. OSBP2 is particularly important due to specific interactions with sterols, which are essential for regulating cholesterol homeostasis. OSBP2 is primarily localized in the testis, retina, and fetal liver, where OSBP2 facilitates the transport of sterols from lysosomes to the nucleus. Through this mechanism, OSBP2 helps to downregulate the expression of genes involved in cholesterol synthesis, such as HMG synthetase, HMG-CoA reductase, and the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR). OSBP2′s ability to bind 25-hydroxy-cholesterol (25-HC) with high affinity is significant, as 25-HC acts as a potent suppressor of cholesterol synthesis gene transcription in cultured cells. Additionally, OSBP2′s cholesterol-binding properties are integral to the regulation of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway, highlighting OSBP2′s importance in cellular signaling and metabolic processes.
