ORP-3 Antibody (D-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ORP-3 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ORP-3, also known as OSBP-related protein 3 or OSBPL3, is an 887 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating the actin cytoskeleton, essential for maintaining cell shape, motility, and division. ORP-3 contains a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain that facilitates interaction with phosphoinositides, influencing cellular signaling pathways and membrane dynamics. ORP-3 is expressed in various tissues, including colon, lung, spleen, brain, thyroid, bone marrow, and skeletal muscle, but remains notably absent in liver and heart tissues. Multiple alternatively spliced isoforms of ORP-3, designated 1α-1δ and 2α-2δ, suggest a complex regulatory mechanism allowing for tissue-specific functions and responses to cellular signals. ORP-3 gene is located on human chromosome 7, a region associated with several genetic disorders, highlighting ORP-3′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
