OPLAH Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects OPLAH protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-OPLAH antibody (C-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. OPLAH protein, also known as 5-oxoprolinase, plays a critical role in the gamma-glutamyl cycle, which is essential for the synthesis and metabolism of glutathione, a key antioxidant that regulates amino acid transport and protects cells from oxidative stress. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of 5-oxo-L-proline to L-glutamate, a reaction coupled with ATP hydrolysis, highlighting OPLAH′s importance in cellular energy metabolism and amino acid homeostasis. OPLAH functions as a 1,288 amino acid homodimer and is predominantly expressed in the kidney, with lower expression levels found in the lung, breast, colon, and ovary. The gene encoding OPLAH is located on human chromosome 8, which is associated with various diseases, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and congenital hypothyroidism, underscoring OPLAH′s potential relevance in both health and disease.
