OGG1/2 Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the OGG1/2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). OGG1/2 (G-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. OGG1/2 protein plays a crucial role in DNA repair, specifically targeting 8-oxoguanine, a common form of oxidative DNA damage that can lead to mutagenesis if left unrepaired. OGG1/2 protein is essential for maintaining genomic stability, as the accumulation of 8-oxoguanine can result in A:T to C:G or G:C to T:A transversion mutations due to its ability to form stable base pairs with adenine and cytosine. The OGG1 gene encodes multiple isoforms through alternative splicing, with OGG1A being the most prevalent and localized in the nucleus, while OGG2A is found in the mitochondria. Proper functioning of OGG1/2 is vital, as inactivation of the OGG1 gene can lead to a mutator phenotype, increasing the risk of cancer and other genetic disorders.

Can this antibody be used for immunohistochemical paraffin sections of tissue? I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you!

Asked by: July Wang
The HRP-conjugate or fluorchrome-conjugated versions of this product would be appropriate for immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded tissue sections. We recommend including antigen retrieval steps for any protocol that includes fixation with paraformaldehyde or formalin. Please refer to Section C in the following link. https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining

Can the blocking peptide sc-376935 P be used as a positive control in Western Blot?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is a short synthetic peptide sequence and is not appropriate to be used as a positive control in Western Blot. It is intended as a negative control by preadsorbing the antibody prior to application.
