OAS2 Antibody (G-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects OAS2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). OAS2 (G-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The 2′-5′-oligoadenylate synthetase (OAS) family, which includes OAS1, OAS2, OAS3, and OASL, is crucial for cellular response to viral infections, as these proteins are induced by interferons and catalyze the conversion of ATP into 2′-5′-linked oligomers of adenosine in the presence of double-stranded RNA and magnesium ions. OAS2, characterized as the "medium form" within this family, possesses a unique structure comprising two OAS1-homologous domains linked by a proline-rich region, and functions effectively as a dimer. This structural configuration enables proper interaction with substrates and regulatory ions for enzymatic activity. The OAS family plays a significant role in inhibiting cellular protein synthesis, contributing to host defense against viral infections. Abnormal OAS2 expression levels have been associated with exacerbations in patients with lupus, highlighting OAS2′s potential as a biomarker for disease activity.

Hi my name is Preeti, I am running western blot for Oas-2 in mouse lung but i am getting so many bands for Oas2. which one i should consider for Oas-2 for mouse lung.

Asked by: Anonymous
Thank you for your question. OAS2 has been reported to run anywhere between 69-82kDa, but it may be glycosylated which may show the protein as even larger. Please contact technical service directly for assistance if you need further assistance with this antibody.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-271117 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
