SEE ALSO...

NF-L Antibody (8A1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects NF-L of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. NF-L (8A1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Neurofilament-L (NF-L), or neurofilament light polypeptide, is a crucial component of the neuronal cytoskeleton, playing a significant role in maintaining the structural integrity of neurons. Located primarily in the axons of neurons, NF-L contributes to the regulation of axon caliber, which is essential for proper nerve signal conduction. The dynamic nature of neurofilaments allows them to interact with other cytoskeletal elements, such as microtubules and actin filaments, thereby influencing overall neuronal function and stability. Importantly, alterations in NF-L phosphorylation and metabolism are often associated with neurodegenerative diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson′s disease, and Alzheimer′s disease, making NF-L a valuable biomarker for studying these conditions.
