Neuron navigator 1 Antibody (G-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Neuron navigator 1 (NAV1) protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NAV1 antibody (G-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. NAV1, also known as Unc-53 homolog 1, Steerin-1, and POMFIL3 (Pore membrane and/or filament-interacting-like protein 3), is a 1,877 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role in neuronal migration, a process essential for proper brain development and function. NAV1 is predominantly located in the cytoplasm and interacts with tubulin, associating with a subset of microtubule plus ends present in the growth cone, which is vital for guiding the movement of neurons during development. NAV1 expression is generally low but significantly higher in both adult and fetal nervous tissue, highlighting NAV1′s importance in neurodevelopment. Notably, overexpression of NAV1 can lead to microtubule bundling, while reduced NAV1 levels can disrupt the directionality of migrating pontine cell processes, underscoring NAV1′s critical function in maintaining neuronal architecture and migration. Additionally, seven isoforms of NAV1 are produced through alternative splicing, which may contribute to NAV1′s diverse functional roles in different cellular contexts.
