NASP Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects NASP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). NASP (A-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. NASP, or nuclear autoantigenic sperm protein, is a crucial player in the transport of histones to the nucleus, which is essential for the assembly of nucleosomes and the regulation of gene expression. This 788 amino acid protein is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm and features three tetratricopeptide repeats, which are important for protein-protein interactions. NASP is expressed in multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, including a testis- and sperm-specific variant (tNASP) and a somatic cell variant (sNASP). NASP functions as a Histone H1 binding protein to facilitate the transport of histones necessary for proper nucleosome formation, thereby ensuring normal cell cycle progression and cellular proliferation. NASP plays a vital role in spermatogenesis and normal development due to significant involvement in DNA replication and cell cycle regulation. In response to DNA damage, NASP undergoes phosphorylation by ATM or ATR, highlighting involvement in cellular stress responses.
