SEE ALSO...

Myosin XVIIIB Antibody (D-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Myosin XVIIIB protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Myosin XVIIIB antibody (D-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Myosin XVIIIB, also known as MYO18B, is a 2,567 amino acid unconventional myosin heavy chain predominantly expressed in human cardiac and skeletal muscles, with lower expression levels in testis. Myosin XVIIIB plays a significant role in cellular motility and muscle contraction by transporting cellular components along actin filaments. Myosin XVIIIB is localized in cytoplasm of undifferentiated myoblast cells, featuring an N-terminal head domain that acts as a motor with ATP-binding site and actin-binding region, a neck region containing IQ motif, and C-terminal tail with short coiled-coil domain facilitating dimerization to form two-headed structure. Sug1, a regulator of 26S proteasome, interacts with C-terminal tail of Myosin XVIIIB, leading to upregulation. Dysregulation of Myosin XVIIIB is implicated in lung and ovarian cancers, where Myosin XVIIIB is often deleted, mutated, or hypermethylated, suggesting a role as tumor suppressor. Expression of Myosin XVIIIB is influenced by histone modifications, particularly deacetylation of histones H3 and H4 surrounding promoter region, potentially contributing to cancer pathogenesis.
