MYL Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MYL protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MYL (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Myosin, the primary component of thick muscle filaments, plays a crucial role in muscle contraction by converting chemical energy into mechanical work. The structure of myosin consists of a long asymmetric molecule with a globular head that interacts with actin filaments and a long tail that helps form thick filaments. In vertebrate striated muscle, myosin is composed of two heavy chains and four light chains, with the heavy chains forming the motor domain that drives contraction. The presence of distinct light chains, including phosphorylatable regulatory light chains and non-phosphorylatable alkali light chains, adds complexity to myosin′s function, particularly in smooth muscle where alkali light chains may interact with the active site of myosin, influencing activity. Several myosin alkali light chains, including MYL1, MYL3, MYL4, and MYL6, have been identified, each potentially playing unique roles in muscle physiology.
