MYH11 Antibody (I-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects myosin heavy chain 11 from mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. MYH11 (I-5) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Anti-MYH11 antibody (I-5) was raised against crude smooth muscle extract from uterus myometrium of human origin. Myosin heavy chain 11 plays a crucial role in smooth muscle contraction as a key component of the contractile apparatus that interacts with actin filaments to facilitate muscle movement. Myosin heavy chain 11′s structure consists of two heavy chain subunits and associated light chains, forming a hexameric complex essential for motor function. Heavy chains encoded by the MYH gene family exhibit actin-activated ATPase activity, vital for generating force necessary for muscle contraction. Differential expression of myosin heavy chain isoforms, such as SM-1 and SM-2, enables functional specialization of smooth muscle, allowing precise regulation of contraction in response to physiological stimuli. Understanding myosin heavy chain 11′s structure and function helps elucidate mechanisms underlying smooth muscle physiology and pathophysiology.
