SEE ALSO...

Mucin 5AC Antibody (CLH2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Mucin 5AC of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-Mucin 5AC antibody (CLH2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mucin 5AC is a crucial gel-forming mucin secreted by surface mucous cells, playing a vital role in protecting and lubricating epithelial surfaces, particularly in respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Mucin 5AC′s structure, characterized by high molecular weight and complex O-linked carbohydrates, forms a protective gel-like barrier that traps pathogens and particulates, preventing infection and maintaining tissue homeostasis. Glucocorticoids regulate Mucin 5AC mRNA expression, while pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha enhance Mucin 5AC secretion during chronic inflammation. Retinoic acid and thyroid hormones influence Mucin 5AC expression, highlighting Mucin 5AC′s importance in both normal physiological processes and pathological conditions. Mucin 5AC expression occurs in various tissues, including normal endocervical epithelium, small intestine, gastric cells, and ethmoid mucosa, underscoring Mucin 5AC′s significance in diverse biological contexts.
