Mucin 5AC Antibody (2-11M1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Mucin 5AC in human, mouse, bovine, feline, and monkey samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Mucin 5AC is a gel-forming mucin primarily secreted by surface mucous cells, playing a crucial role in the protection and lubrication of epithelial surfaces. Anti-Mucin 5AC antibody (2-11M1) recognizes a structure characterized by a high molecular weight and extensive O-linked glycosylation, essential for forming a protective mucus barrier that maintains the integrity of mucosal surfaces in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts. Mucin 5AC′s ability to trap pathogens and particulates is particularly important in respiratory diseases, where excessive mucus production can lead to obstruction and inflammation.
