SEE ALSO...

mtTFA Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that specifically targets an epitope mapping between amino acids 207-241 near the C-terminus of human mtTFA, demonstrating reactivity in human samples via western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). mtTFA, also known as mitochondrial transcription factor A, TFAM, or TCF6, is a nuclear-encoded protein imported into the mitochondria, where mtTFA binds to mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and is crucial for the replication, transcription, and maintenance of mtDNA. As a member of the high mobility group (HMG) protein family, mtTFA has DNA-binding domains that allow mtTFA to bend and wrap mtDNA, facilitating the initiation of transcription and replication processes. The mitochondrial localization of mtTFA is vital because mtTFA directly influences mitochondrial gene expression and biogenesis, essential for proper mitochondrial function and energy production in cells. Aberrations in mtTFA expression or function can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and are associated with various mitochondrial disorders characterized by symptoms like muscle weakness, neurodegeneration, and metabolic issues. During spermatogenesis, mtTFA levels decrease, leading to reduced mtDNA copy number, which may prevent the transmission of paternal mtDNA. Understanding mtTFA′s role in mitochondrial health is important for research into aging, metabolic diseases, and mitochondrial pathologies. anti-mtTFA antibody (C-9) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for diverse research applications involving mitochondrial function and related diseases.
