MRP-L2 Antibody (D-11) is a high quality monoclonal MRP-L2 antibody (also designated MRP-L2 antibody) suitable for the detection of the MRP-L2 protein of mouse, rat and human origin. MRP-L2 Antibody (D-11) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-MRP-L2 antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-MRP-L2 antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mitochondrial ribosomes consist of a large 39S subunit and a small 28S subunit, both of which are comprised of multiple mitochondrial ribosomal proteins (MRPs) that are encoded by nuclear genes and are essential for protein synthesis within mitochondria. MRP-L2 (mitochondrial ribosomal protein L2), also known as CGI-22 or RPML14, is a 305 amino acid protein that belongs to the ribosomal protein L2P family. The gene encoding MRP-L2 maps to human chromosome 6, which contains 170 million base pairs and comprises nearly 6% of the human genome. Deletion of a portion of the q arm of chromosome 6 is associated with early onset intestinal cancer, suggesting the presence of a cancer susceptibility locus. Additionally, Porphyria cutanea tarda, Parkinson′s disease, Stickler syndrome and a susceptibility to bipolar disorder are all associated with genes that map to chromosome 6.
