MRM1 Antibody (E-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MRM1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MRM1 (E-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MRM1, or mitochondrial rRNA methyltransferase 1, consists of 353 amino acids and is localized in the mitochondrion, where MRM1 plays a crucial role in methylating mitochondrial ribosomal RNA. Specifically, MRM1 methylates the ribose of guanosine G-2270 within the peptidyl transferase center of the mitochondrial large ribosomal RNA (21S), which is essential for proper mitochondrial protein synthesis and function. MRM1 is encoded on human chromosome 17, a region significant for high gene density and association with key tumor suppressor genes such as p53 and BRCA1. Proper functioning of MRM1 is vital for maintaining mitochondrial health, and dysregulation can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction, implicated in various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
