MPST Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MPST in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MPST Antibody (D-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MPST, also known as mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase or TST2, is a 297 amino acid enzyme that plays a crucial role in cellular detoxification processes by catalyzing the transfer of sulfur ions to thiol compounds, such as cyanide, thereby facilitating cyanide detoxification and cysteine degradation. This enzymatic function helps protect cells from the toxic effects of cyanide, which can arise from various environmental and metabolic sources. MPST exists as a monomer or as a disulfide-linked homodimer, and proper functioning is essential for maintaining cellular redox balance. Deficiencies in MPST have been linked to the rare disorder mercaptolactate-cysteine disulfiduria (MCDU), highlighting MPST′s significance in human health. The gene encoding MPST is located on human chromosome 22, a region that contains over 500 genes and is associated with several genetic disorders, including Phelan-McDermid syndrome and Neurofibromatosis type 2.
