SEE ALSO...

Mpi Antibody (B-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Mpi protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Mpi (B-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mpi protein, also known as mannose phosphate isomerase or PMI1, is a crucial 423 amino acid zinc metalloenzyme that plays a vital role in glycoprotein biosynthesis by catalyzing the interconversion of fructose-6-phosphate and mannose-6-phosphate. This enzymatic activity is essential for maintaining a steady supply of D-mannose derivatives, which are necessary for most glycosylation reactions, thereby influencing proper folding and function of glycoproteins. Mpi is predominantly expressed in heart, brain, and skeletal muscle, and cytoplasmic localization allows efficient participation in metabolic pathways. Mutations in Mpi-encoding genes can lead to congenital disorder of glycosylation type 1B (CDG1B), a condition characterized by severe developmental issues, including protein-losing enteropathy and significant mental and psychomotor retardation. Anti-Mpi antibody (B-2) detection capabilities make this reagent invaluable for researchers studying glycosylation disorders and related metabolic pathways.

Can Mpi (B-2): sc-393484 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. Yes, Mpi (B-2): sc-393484 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
