Monoglyceride Lipase Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Monoglyceride Lipase of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Monoglyceride Lipase antibody (C-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Monoglyceride Lipase (MGL), also referred to as Lysophospholipase-like or Lysophospholipase homolog, plays a crucial role in the endocannabinoid system, where MGL is essential for the degradation of endocannabinoids and the complete hydrolysis of monoglycerides. MGL is primarily located in the cytosol of presynaptic neurons, which is significant because this localization allows for rapid modulation of endocannabinoid signaling at synapses. By hydrolyzing 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), a key endocannabinoid that activates cannabinoid receptors, MGL influences neurotransmitter release and synaptic plasticity, thereby impacting various physiological processes such as pain sensation, mood regulation, and appetite control. MGL′s ability to interact with hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) further underscores its importance in lipid metabolism, as MGL collaborates to hydrolyze intracellular triglycerides into glycerol and fatty acids, highlighting its multifaceted role in both the endocannabinoid system and lipid homeostasis.
